The slave Hagar is despised by her mistress Sarai for becoming pregnant by her master Abram. To protect her child, she flees to the desert and, after an unexpected encounter, a stranger provides everything she needs and makes her realize that God sees her in the midst of her suffering.

Hagar then returns to her previous circumstances with a new perspective, supplied and free from all the fear and hatred she previously felt, and with a promise that would change the course of history.
